Open Coaching Journal

About

Open Coaching Journal is an independent editorial publication about the everyday craft of coaching conversations. It is for curious coaches, people who use coaching skills at work or in groups, and readers who want to think more clearly about listening, questions and next steps.

What we cover

Our topics include attentive listening, question design, goal-setting, reflection and the boundaries of a coaching relationship. We explain useful concepts in plain language and focus on choices a reader can consider in ordinary conversations. Coaching is not a substitute for professional medical, legal or financial advice, and our articles do not promise particular outcomes.

How we approach it

We break ideas into manageable parts, distinguish a suggestion from a universal rule, and make room for different contexts and communication styles. Examples are illustrative, not accounts of real clients. We aim to help readers think through their options rather than prescribe a single way to coach.

Our point of view

Good coaching makes space for the other person

A useful conversation is not a script or a quick fix. It helps people notice their own thinking and choose a next step that fits.
